Our Programmes
Three Ways to Find Your Place at Bo Lin
Whether you are looking for companionship, creative activity or a full home — our three programmes cover each of these needs clearly, without overlap or obligation.
Back to HomeHow We Think About This
A Resident-Led Approach to Daily Life
We started from a simple observation: the things that make later life meaningful are not complicated. Regular company, something worth doing with your hands or ears, a comfortable place to sleep, and food prepared with care. Our three programmes each address one layer of that — and can be taken separately or together.
Each programme was shaped by conversations with residents over the years. Companion Circles grew from the finding that many residents simply wanted a reason to be in the same room as others, without any performance expected. The Cultural Studio came from the number of residents who mentioned calligraphy and Cantonese opera unprompted in those early conversations.
The Residence and Lifestyle Plan brings everything together for those who want a single, settled arrangement rather than individual subscriptions.
No Fixed Attendance Requirements
Enrolment in any programme means access, not obligation. Residents come when they wish.
Programmes Built Around Hong Kong Culture
Activities reference what residents already know — mahjong, calligraphy, Cantonese opera — rather than generic social formats.
Monthly Rolling — No Lengthy Commitments
All three plans operate on a monthly basis after an initial settling-in period, giving residents and families flexibility.

Programme One
Companion Circles
Small social groups that meet through the week for tea, card games, mahjong and shared stories. The format is relaxed; hosts hold the room and help things along, but never push anyone to participate in ways that feel uncomfortable. New residents often find this programme the easiest entry point into community life at Bo Lin.
What Is Included
- Access to all weekly Companion Circle sessions
- Mahjong, card games, storytelling and tea afternoons
- Hosted by an experienced, friendly Circle host
- Sessions in Cantonese and English
- Light refreshments included during sessions
Who This Suits
Residents who live independently (either at Bo Lin or elsewhere) and would welcome regular, low-pressure social contact. Families often choose this for a parent who is sociable but not interested in structured activities.

Cultural & Recreation Studio
A weekly programme of calligraphy, Cantonese opera listening, gentle music sessions and craft afternoons run in a light-filled studio space. The studio runs on the principle that creative activity in later life has real value — not as therapy or as a way to fill time, but as something intrinsically worth doing. Residents choose whatever session fits their mood and interest on any given week.
What Is Included
- Weekly calligraphy sessions with materials provided
- Cantonese opera appreciation and listening afternoons
- Gentle music and song sessions
- Seasonal craft afternoons (paper folding, watercolour, etc.)
- Led by a programme lead with formal arts training
Who This Suits
Residents who have always had an interest in Cantonese arts and culture, or who are simply curious and looking for something to engage with during the week. No prior experience is needed for any session.

Programme Three
Residence & Lifestyle Plan
A comfortable furnished room with housekeeping and laundry, full dining, and open access to all social, cultural and garden activities — arranged as one unhurried monthly plan. This is Bo Lin's most comprehensive offering, and the one chosen by most long-term residents. It removes the need to manage separate domestic arrangements and allows residents to simply settle into daily life at their own pace.
What Is Included
- Furnished private room with daily housekeeping
- Laundry service included
- Three meals per day in the shared dining room
- Full access to Companion Circles and Cultural Studio
- Garden access and common lounge areas
- Participation in monthly resident conversations
Who This Suits
Seniors who would prefer a complete living arrangement in a social setting, rather than managing their own domestic situation alone. Families often choose this plan when they want assurance that daily care, meals and company are all in one place.
